History3Small_Image_Only

IMPCO's story starts in California in 1957. The founders of IMPCO (then Imperial Machine Products Company) Herbert V. Hills and Richard Baverstock started off as mechanical engineers building race vehicles using LPG components. These race vehicles were promoted as "Clean Air" vehicles, some of which are boats, 4WDs and drag cars (see Propane X). All of this was successful due to the fantastic build quality and robustness that was found in Imperial Machine Products Company products, and the fact that LPG was readily available and cheap.
